Going with a more streamlined approach for the betterment of developers is paramount now, Sony simply cannot afford to cling onto the Cell when it remains a clunky and cumbersome alternative, especially since they have effectively lost the massive hold on the market and their economy is shot to hell (another CPU solution will also be a lot cheaper).
I don't expect to see much more of the Cell, they can't be that stupid. Not with Crazy Ken gone, anyway!
