I could be wrong, but I think most nintendo games are not story driven but gameplay driven. So there is no need to sell the game when you finish as it still offers great split screen play and great game mechanics. I dont ever replay my pc or 360 games but my wii games come out when ever i have people over, mario cart being one of them. They also dont kill their games with sequels. there is no MKWii2 to cut the sales of the first short nor is it expected from nintendo like it is from all other devs.
