Mississippi the poorest state right now isn't that much better off then Puerto Rico. Also when it comes to tourism I would visit Puerto Rico before I visit Mississippi. And I drove through Mississippi before on my way to Orlando, Florida. The worst strech of I -10 was definitely in that state.
