If that is indeed the case the only solution is to buy a power extension cable and place it at your feet or on the sofa next to you. Just don't spill your beer on it if it is not splash proof.

Why dont people just buy a 50 cent  USB to WiiU charger cable then? I mean there is china cables for everything I can charge  my GBA SP  DS 3DS etc with my PC because I bought those USB to Nintendo-proprietary-plug cables on Ebay.  I am pretty sure those will show up within the first month after the WiiU released.

And I never had a problem. 

Hell I can even charge my 3ds with a small solar charging station for phones.
