In order to have a serious conversation about Nintendo in general and the seventh generation in particular, you need everyone to agree on two things:
One, there are no such things as hardcore games and casual games. Video games can be classified according to a number of criteria -- genre, ESRB rating, developer, publisher -- but to separate games into hardcore and casual is counterproductive.
Two, there is a difference between descriptive words and normative words. "Violent," "dark," and "mature" are useful in describing a game, but not useful in assigning value.
If everyone can agree on those two things, then maybe we can have a healthy debate.
