Who is the worst of the popular superheroes?

Both of these "superheroes" remind me of when I played with toys, or roleplayed games with my brother. You see, I always took to characters that struggled and earned their right to be called extraordinary. My brother on the other hand was obsessed with being top dog, if I said my character has "Power A" he would instantaneously make his character have "Power B" to my character's flaws. These charcters are the type of thing that come up from a "One Up-er" mentality where their only claim to fame is that they are indeed stronger and more powerful than whatever the rest came up with.

Who are the best? Ironically, Batman and Spiderman. I have always been drawn to these heroes for one main reason. They struggle, not just with one problem, but with several at a time. They win, but they also lose quite often(as the good guys usually do in real life). You are forced to recognize their plight as a hero, knowing that their abilities are very finite in the grand scheme of things and will not solve every problem for them. Batman is the boldest of them all. The writers have written some monumental failures and successes in Batman's life that leaves a strong impression. For instance, when the 2nd Robin was kidnapped and beaten to death by The Joker. Batman felt failure on a level he had never before. He had experienced it slightly with his inability to keep TwoFace from going to the dark side, but this time he let someone who trusted him entirely, a kid no less, down. I love how Batman almost suffers from Sociopathic tendencies, if you haven't noticed Dexter is based on the same concept. He rarely feels for anyone or anything, yet they craft something in their lives that keep them grounded and adhere to them with complete loyalty, even if it means losing everything. Spidey and Bats both live in a believable world where social issues frequently conflict with their other persona. Spidey has common ones such as trying to court the love of his life yet keep her at a safe distance at the same time.

I just love how B and S are human in nature, vulnerable. Which turns to be the exact reason why I hate Hulk and Superman.

Solid, well-written post, and very much how I feel.  Spider-man and Batman, in my opinion, are the two best comic heroes ever created.  They are human, they struggle constantly with issues that are easily relatable.  Superman, on the other hand, is a virtual god, which does not interest me in the slightest, and the Hulk's endless strength and rage make him a childish construct who has some of the most boring fights ever applied to paper.  Superman, to me, feels so fake, so sanctimonious and impossible on every level, that I just plain don't like him.  

Thanks, glad to hear I am not the only one who thinks this way. I hear Aquaman(who is pretty lame) but I think Superman and Hulk as the worst offenders.

I like Batman, Spiderman, and X-Men the best. X-Men is sort of broad but the overall story is very well written, with the team frequently being beaten while trying to better the world, making small progress at a time. I do hate Wolverine for similar reasons to Superman and hulk. Not only is he helplessly pandered to the "Anti-Heroes are cool" crowd, but in the movies they ruined him and the story. I get that he has rapid healing (which is his only mutant power by the way) plus adamantium skeleton plus claws. Yet what I don't understand is how he somehow could survive instant disintergration from the Pheonix who can control things on a MOLECULAR LEVEL!?!?! Not even the professor in that movie survived it and he at least had the excuse of being able to combat her ability by fucking with her mind. Someone tried to tell me that it could have been that Pheonix was struggling with Jean Gray's mind. Well someone explain her disintergrating her husband Cyclops in the first 15mins of the movie who she cared about far more than her sexual attraction to Wolverine(at least in the comics). Just pissed me off so much, that I know hate Wolverine's show boating ass. :/
