The Wii U should be able to do things the current generation cannot, that should be a given. I don't think that's disputed by anyone with any intelligence. Even if the only real improvement was the increase of RAM, that would still be the case.
"Nintendo made very wise choices for cache layout, ram latency and ram size," was the most interesting bit to me. Even though no developer is going to badmouth their console partners, it sounds like he's genuinely pleased with Nintendo's design and how it optimizes code. That's more important than raw power at this stage. It seems like developers are going to be happy with what they can do with the Wii U.
The the other stuff they were asking probably aren't things the guy can actually answer. Nothing is ever really future-proof. He cannot know if the PS4/720 will eventually leave the Wii U behind or not, no one does. That scenario wouldn't happen until late next gen, anyway, if it does happen. In relation to the rest of the article, the last paragraph was a very political response and far less interesting.
