I don't believe that all gamers that identify themselves as "core" pay so close attention. Playing games regularly doesn't automatically equal keeping up on all the news, and I've seen cases of core gamers who play games regularly, but focus on certain genres or franchises, so they have a bit of tunnel vision concerning different types of games. Don't assume that all core gamers are uber-informed like us VGChartz afficionados.
Now, those who pay extra attention to PoP (the fanbase) are the ones who are most likely to pick up the Wii version of TFS in any scenario (and I imagine many ploncking down the cash for both versions), so this is a good test to see how many really informed, dedicated gamers follow the series. Or (and this is a total assumption that doesn't matter) perhaps some people don't bother with reviews so much and would rather play a game of the platform of their preference even if the version isn't as good, meaning there are a large number of people in the fanbase that I really don't want to associate with. Actually that might explain why people are saying CoD was comparable on Wii (not me!)

You dont need to pay close attention or to look at gaming news to clearly see what a system might be capable of doing. If I look at a game from the WIi library and one from the PS360 library, without knowing anyting I can at least come to the conclusion that hey the PS360 is clearly capable of more than the Wii is.
As for PoP i was under that that game underperformed, period. IMHO anyone who was saying COD is comparble on Wii either really love the pointer controls and can deal with it running like crap or they are lying to themselves.

What a system is capable of doing doesn't automatically translate to what the system will do in every scenario. It's lazy thinking to assume that, well, the HD twins are more powerful so every game is going to be leagues better so I should ignore any good Wii versions that may have their own original ideas since, after all, the platform did have far more promise than most developers delivered on.
Perhaps PoP:TFS would've performed better in a hypothetical scenario where the Wii version can't be considered the most worthwhile, or a situation where developers put as much effort in as Ubisoft Quebec did (which somehow apparently was more effort than the A-Team working on the other version).

On the multiplat side?? yeah it is im not talking about whatever exclusive game would have been made for Wii. But i can probably think of maybe 5 games that are actually BETTER on Wii than they are on PS360. If you can think of more i would like to hear them.
As for PoP ill take your word for it, never played any version. But something is to be said for it selling the worst of them all. Not sure what you are saying though, if the HD versions would have been better the game would have sold more?? Well yeah, that wont mean it would really translate sales to Wii version

Pretty sure the DS version sold worse, but that's irrelevant. The Wii version sold poorly compared to the other home console versions, but the cause is open to interpretation. Sales aren't dependant on a single factor. I could try and make a case that if third-party developers (and especially publishers) realized that the Wii was more powerful than the GameCube and actually had good ideas, the Wii third-party ecosystem would be healthier and a larger amount of people would be interested in "good in its own way" Wii versions of games. But that's a total what if scenario.
I wish that the 360/PS3 versions were better (not necessarily better than the Wii version, but just plain better than what they are). I'm not so fanboyish as to wish inferiority on anything that isn't on the all-conquering Wii. I just want every version to be as good as it could be. Nothing more, nothing less. Maybe sales will follow, maybe not. I'm the optimist who thinks that the result would be positive for everyone.
