I wonder if devs will go a resolution between 720p and 1080p, sort of how a few of them don't use full 720p and go for 640p to help maintain a higher framerate?

i highly doubt that. the difference between 720p and 1080p is sometimes hard to see - why choose another resolution between it?

and as i said before: i don't really care for 1080p - i would prefer 720p with decent aa over 1080p.

The difference between 720p and 1080p is astounding to me. In fact I see a big difference between 720p and 1366 x 768 (that's what my monitor goes up to). I find 720p notably blurry in comparison. Is that just me?

Yes it's just you.

What you're seeing is not the difference in native resolutions, what you're seeing is scaling artifacts that your monitor causes when it tries to scale a game res of 1280x720 up to its own native monitor res of 1366x768.

It's an important and common phenomenon though that is seldom mentioned in graphics discussions, because that difference caused by resolution scaling can be shockingly bad.
