I normally would disagree with you, but FF7 is a game that is being expected to be done real well when it is remade, so the best, easiest, and cheapest route to go would be on a home console rather than a portable.  I'm sure they're waiting for a good opportunity to remake the game, because sometimes the fans are wrong.  

The problem is how do you remake FFVII now in the modern gaming world or in fututre, with DQ it's not as much of a problem because the gameplay elements of the series have been kept very traditional despite being tweaked in every new installment. FF how ever is not the same in that regard, do you simply do FFVII in HD or change things around (think REmake on GC) because me personally I'd rather they do a proper remake and change some things around.

An FFVII remake is destined to be controversial at this point for a host of reasons because as you mentioned on occasions the fans can be wrong, that's why SE aren't as willing to remake it, at this point I'd rather they remake FFVI.
