The only things I don't like about the AC engine is: Horrible screen tearing (don't know if it's in this one too), flickering shadows (evident in that video), awkward clipping issues and facial animations are sometimes lackluster.

Yeah, there's always a lot of screen tearing in Assassin's Creed.
But what does clipping issues actually mean?
|
When objects go through other objects when they shouldn't be able to, like hands through clothes or a collar through (into) the neck. I notice this a lot in AC games. Oh and the Digital Foundry article is up for it, looks like there is no screen tearing this time around! That is great news.
Example of clipping:

Ahhh, of course. Gotya.
But in your example, how should the issue be solved on the second screen? From my experience the far majority of games would choose to have the gun "clip" into the leg.

By making the guy move the gun a bit differently I guess. It's harder to do, but possible. Some games have almost no clipping at all. But when games have much clipping it always feels so cheap to me and takes me out of the experience.

Yeah, me too. Hopefully some smart engine developer solves it just in time for next gen.
