like i said to viper, if you know that ads are without tax there is only as much confusion for you as if you see it on a price tag without and have to pay then a price you don't really know before (even if you know your tax most want really know the exact price not to talk about everyone who doesn#t live there and will buy something there)

Huh? What you just posted is a bit confusing to me. What I am saying is, the MSRP of a product in America is always without tax. Sure, stores could apply tax for you but it would then be no different than going to the register and having the tax applied for you, only a couple seconds later. Since tax vaires from state to state, there is no way for a company to list the product other than what their suggested price of thee item is. Once you see the manufacturer's price, you understand there is to be a certain amount added in taxes depending on where you live.

I am not saying people would not understand, I am saying it would be of little difference since the tax addition will be there for you in the store either way. One way, you are at the register, thee other, you are looking at the box. Then it comes down to retailers, saying it cost, "$207" even though you added tax already while having another store list the price at thee MSRP of "$199" may make you look more expensive even though you may not be. This would also create confusion for the customer so here, all we do is list thee MSRP and allow the state and stores to handle tax the way they see best fit.
