What are some things that everyone knows and understands and that are obvious as fuck but that your dumb brain took ages to figure out?
For me: the buttons you use to call lifts (elevators). I always thought that the down arrow indicated that I wanted the lift to come down, so I'd push the button if the lift was on a floor above mine. A couple of years ago (I'm 25) I figured out that it meant I want to go down.
I felt so stupid.
