Not as high as Xbox or PS2 tie ratios. The Xbox has the all-time highest tie ratio, which furthers his point that tie ratio is a good predictor of brand growth.
However, the 360, PS3, and Wii tie ratios don't compare to their predecessors, so I think by this logic I can say that all of the brands are, in fact, weakening

That is really interesting. What was the tie ratio for those?
|
Xbox - 11.01
PS2 - 10.66
360 - 9.77
GameCube - 9.60
PlayStation - 9.23
PS3 - 8.75
Wii - 8.34
Everyone is doomed. I blame Apple.

I'm a little surprised about that, but a lot of that might have to deal with in quality games this generation and digital downloads. Can you imagine the numbers we would have on XBLA if they would show it?
And Windows 8 will mopst likely gain ground on apple with its tablets so :)

Price, most likely - not quality. Digital distribution and pricing shouldn't directly affect the Wii in theory, but third-party support and the buying habits of its audience definitely would.
it may be unfair to include digital sales as in most cases those games are cheaper and generate less revenue.

They gain companies just as much profit because they dont deal with the middle man and packagine. So yes it is fair. Digital games are becoming more of the future every day so take tie ratios with a grain of salt by comparing it to last gen. COmparing it with this gen seems a little more reasonable but last gen when there was no digital software
