The reason that they did this was because the movie was taking place in the 50's according to Lucas. It was definitely weird at the end when it became a UFO picture, but I didn't find it any more strange than when the Ark is opened and everyone starts melting or when Mola Ram pulls out that guys heart and it starts beating. These movies are all in the fantasy adventure genre. There were no Nazis with their faces melting in those 40's serials so the Indy series was already combining genres. By the way, I am not the biggest fan of Crystal Skull either. I rank the films: 1) Raiders (one of my favorite action films ever) 2) Temple 3) Crystal Skull 4) Last Cruade I don't think that The Phantom Menace is the worst Star Wars either. What do you say about that, sir? |
Now I know you're only trolling!!!
Yeah, it makes sense that they have some UFO theme in a movie taking place in the 50's, I just don't think it's a good match with the adventure theme of the 40's that the whole series is build around... I just wish they could have done something else with the whole "Crystal Skull" thing.

Why take something that actually exists and make it... alien??
I'm on Twitter @DanneSandin!
Furthermore, I think VGChartz should add a "Like"-button.
