As a reference iPad is +50% of marketshare on a ~100 million devices per year market. Android based manufacturers shares the rest.

http://www.engadget.com/2012/10/25/strategy-analytics-claims-android-reached-41-percent-of-tablets/

Microsoft marketshare in tablets will be above 5% easily next year.  easily.

You seem to be on some kind of crusade here... who are you trying to convince?  You are coming across as pretty desperate... relax.

I don't think I am desperate when I come with hard facts and predictions grounded in reason.

5% or slightly above in marketshare in 2013 will still be seen as a failure for Windows tablets. Only 1/10th of Apple.

But without being horrible your predictions arent grounded in reason.

Why?

Microsoft have never made an attempt in te tablet market where your figures come from. They actually mean nothing concerning what is about to play out.

This is the first time Microsoft has made Windows into a full fledged Tablet OS. And the first time Microsfot have made there own hardware where there flagship OS is pushed.

On top of that Surface RT was sold out before it went on sale.

The table I posted with current tablet marketshares was for reference only, mainly to give perspective to the rumour of 3-5 million Surface devices being shipped in the first quarter. I simply wanted to show the size of the total tablet market to give it context.

Yes, Surface RT was sold out - out of a very limited initial batch. If the pre-order shipment was only say 20,000 to North America we shouldn't be impressed that it was sold out - we should be worried why MS supply constrained them on purpose.
