Yes it is possible to love everyone. But it's not necessary to like someone to love them. If you think of everyone as part of your extended family then you can muster up a bit of love for everyone.

But it takes effort and most people can't be bothered.

Is it necessary? Only if you want a more peaceful world. But if you are OK with the rather dysfunctional status quo then I guess it's not necessary.

SOmeone once said "why not try peace for a while, if it doesn't work we can always go back to war." Similarly why not try love for a while, if it doesn't work you can always go back to hate and estrangement.
