It is the most successful in terms of revenue of hardware plus games but it isn't if you consider total unit sales. However given enough time it ought to win in both metrics and then you can consider it the likely undisputed accessory king of all time.
Microsoft EDD has 3 main cash cows at the moment in no particular order:
Halo.
Kinect.
Live.
I would also have to say that Kinect is probably more important to Microsoft than any other gameplay accessory to any other company. When the Xbox Infinity is released Kinect 2.0 will still remain an important and popular accessory.
