It's a fucking joke, frankly, and the fallout really just helps prove Florence's point.

People are castigating Eurogamer but I'm sure they were under huge pressure from great big bullies and I can understand them backing down, even if it is disappointing and there doesn't seem to have been anything particularly libellous in the article, at least not to my untrained eye anyway. At least they gave Florence the platform in the first place, hard to imagine IGN, gamespot or any of those shithouses doing the same. I'll keep an eye out for his name in future anyway.

As for the rage directed at Wainwright, what's new? I'm sure it was pretty gross but it's very difficult to feel sorry for her in any of this. Is the abuse really any worse than other areas of journalism? I'm thinking of football fans, Christopher Nolan fans, the Daily Mail website etc. Not that that excuses it, I just don't know whether it's specific to the games industry, although i didn't see any of the comments as her twitter account is now closed.

And why aren't there more comments on this?

That's very true actually. I tend not to notice stuff like that as I don't frequent those sites, but I suppose it does happen in all walks of life.
