4. No way would I ever hook up a PC or Laptop to my 42 " HDTV to use Chrome or Firefox when IE on 360 does exactly what I want. Buy goods, check email and VGChartz. etc.

 

I dont care for owning and fiddling with different OS, different wires, different browsers etc. 

Smartglass is fantastic not just from a browser point of view. I just signed a 1 year Xbox Music pass and have 8000 Microsoft points so I can buy ( purchase ) Tv series and HD movies via Xbox video. All can be used across all 3 devices I'll own in less tan 1 month for the 1 time cost. 

Genius. No fuss it just works.

 

Of course I bought Surface for the wrong reasons. I should have got a Nexus 7 or Ipad where I cant do everyday PC tasks.

1) Surface RT does nothing that can't be done in Nexus7/iPad/other tablets, but they have TONS of more apps for far more functionality. Based on WP, I don't know if RT will ever catch them.

2) smartglass will be coming to other tablets too...

3) me too actaully. I'll probably get the samsung chromebook for $250 to do all that and more... better than Surface RT and 1/2 the price.

4) Makes sense, except its IE. "IE is the best evar" ~ said noone ever. Android + TV which can be done so many different ways right now gives you Chrome which is far better.

I know that was off topic, but I really can't see why anyone would be buying Surface RT. Pro has many valid uses as its full Windows8 and extremely portable. But for RT standards... Samsung Chromebook, Nexus7 (or upcoming 10), iPad, Samsung Note 10.1 are all better choices for either a lot less money or relatively the same.

 

As for smartglass, for media use and interaction... its awesome. I don't think it will go anywhere with typical console gaming though. It really doesn't compare well with Wii U's gamepad. But its definitely something I like in a future media/entertainment box on my TV.

You two are the exact same in a manner that you're ideal case customers for the companies and ecosystems you're championingon these forums. One is more than happy to drink the Microsoft coolade no matter what while other is championing google blindly. 

Android has had a tablet OS since 2011 and they have what, 25000 table optimized apps? Surface will have more in a month...
