Since the beginning Sony has been using the number system with their main home consoles, PS(PSONE), PS2, PS3. It's a very simple way of naming the system and letting the consumers know what Sony's new or old console is, adding names could get confusing over time to the simple consumers as to which came first. But then again completely changing the name of their console could be like a new beginning for the company, it's like a new console all together that has nothing to do with the PS - PS3 line of home consoles, or what it would make people think. Every other console developer Nintendo/Microsoft/Sega/Atari etc has always changed up the name competely Sony is the only one to continue the numbering system.
So would it be best for Sony to change the name of the next gen Playstation console (and even take out the 'Playstation' name all together) and to come out with a fresh start or would it be best if they kept the numbering system where it's plain and simple for everyone to understand that this is Sony's new console.
