I really hope this works well for them. If they can use this to push a much more advanced XB3, it is great for all of us. These kinds of payment options are a very comfortable avenue for a large number of consumers. For some reason people don't fear a contract like they do a no interest financing plan.

This!  People finance cars all the time - yet they would most always save money if they paid for it outright.  And some people even lease cars which means they get nothing at the end of the contract.  And people don't scream about that.

Microsoft has enough cash on hand to finance you Xbox all by itself.  The extra cost on Xbox Live is for the financing of the new Console.  I realize some people aren't understanding that.

My only concern is if $14.99 is their new target price fo Xlive.  That would not make me happy. Although, if it included Xbox Music and some Video Streaming it might be worth it - once the economy picks up some more.

I saw more power they can put on the next Console and make it affordable to most gamers (and casuals) the better.

Really not sure I see any point of Consol over PC's since Kinect, Wii and other alternative ways to play have been abandoned.
