Sony apparently doesn't have a very open and supportive F2P system, as noted by the article I linked to in one of my previous points. Crytek is apparently not being supported to publish Warface on the system. http://www.freemmostation.com/news/crytek-conspiracy-microsoft-sony-and-nintendo-against-f2p/ |
Is your whole argument hinging on this article? Because it says multiple times in it that Microsoft, Sony and Nintendo have been reluctant to embrace the F2P model, which was in June. Your interview with Reggie seems to indicate Nintendo must have changed their mind about this, which is great. Equally, Sony or Microsoft could have changed their minds too. At least Sony have a fair few examples of embracing F2P under their belt.
Once we see some positive action from Nintendo towards F2P, then it'll be a different story. Even in that interview with Reggie he seems to skirt around the issue, talking about 'all business models' rather than F2P specifically, and pointing out that there may be flaws in the model.
I understand what you're getting at about this being a bigger play for Nintendo if they embrace it better, but right now there's just two conflicting viewpoints on whether they are in fact embracing it or not. We'd need to see some action first, in my opinion :P
