I stand corrected, however my point regarding MS marketing spin is still valid. XB performed on a par with the GC yet the XB is hailed as a success whereas the GC is deemed to be a flop.

The gamecube was a flop saleswise. A console with a good number of great exclusive games that only sells 21m units is a flop. Also Nintendo was expecting the GC to sell much better in its lifespan.

Compared to the GC the Xbox is a success saleswise if you take a look at their respective game libraries. How many great games were available only on Xbox and not on any other console or PC?

Microsoft was a newcomer to the videogame business and were able to beat Nintendo saleswise. That is success for Microsoft and failure for Nintendo.

Microsoft venture into the video game business has been if not a disaster than a dissapointment, losing so much money year after year. Beating the GameCube in sales doesn't mean the X-Box was a success. The GameCube made Nintendo a profit and what microsoft got from the X-Box and continues to get with the 360 is hundreds of millions of dollars of loses.
