Total units manufactured (this includes dev kits, debug kits, demo units, replacement units, etc...) is now at 158.2 million.  Shipped units will be a few million less.   Quarterly units have dropped to a few hundred thousand.

The DS is at 152 million shipped (as of last June) with at least 2.5 million expected over the next few months.

DS has yet to drop to a $99 price tag.  I suspect by the end of 2013 to the middle of 2014, the DS will have taken the lead.

Sony shipped 2.8 million consoles last quarter (PS3+PS2). How do you know the breakdown?

Extrapolated based on past quarterly figures for both coupled with the reduction trend the PS2 has followed.  Toss in Sony projections for the FY and it's not too hard to get an idea of what their last shipments most likely were.  Dobutful they bucked the trend for no reason.  And Sony hasn't launched the PS2 in any new regions lately nor cut it's distribution price.  And given the strength of the Yen, it's not likely they will anytime soon.

I may be off by 100k but that's about it.   Any higher than that and it simply wouldn't make sense.

Still, when you consider units sold to consumers, the DS is quite close and gaining.

The DS will never outship the PS2. End of story.
