| wfz said: Wow, the tool kit gives players SO much power... so much freedom... I love this company. They continue to give out amazing content for free, and they care so much about their fans. And I still can't believe this: http://www.pcgamer.com/2012/04/17/why-cd-projekt-decided-to-update-the-witcher-2-for-free/ Fans: "Hey, the last part of the game was really fun but it felt a little short." CDProjekt: "Well here's a few extra hours of added gameplay to extend the game and flesh everything out more! For free of course!" Mind = blown. Capcom, EA, Activision.. lol. Well, at least we know who really cares about their customers before all else. |
I wish they could have had the toolkit available closer to launch, as I think that releasing it this late some of the people that might have made mods (and made a few without the tools) may have moved onto other projects now. But it's great to hear that the toolkit will also work for future RED engine games, it would also be great if they could have the toolkit be a standalone RED Engine SDK like Unity/UDK I would love to see what some indie studios could do with the engine since it's designed for branching RPG stories. They could add a contract where they could even take the best games and help publish them which would be awsome.
But yea CDProjekt are a great customer focused company, they understand that customer good will is one of the best marketing tools you can have. When people feel like they are getting a great deal and are treated with respect they will tell their freinds. Also when they add free new content it gives news sites a reason to post about the games and makes the game have better value in the eyes of consumers which boosts sales as well. And in the long term getting new people to buy your games is better tha selling the content to existing customers for a few bucks IMO.
