i just realized that the uk hardware market is bigger as the us-american gaming market per capita, was that always like this?

Pretty equal aren't they?

if wiki is correct with population, usa should have 322,714 hardware sales this week to be equal but it only has 225,471

I was going off lifetime sales to date.  Also, with reagrd to current weekly sales numbers, 'm not convinced the tracking of Europe is too accurate at the moment. I find it hard to believe the recession isn't affecting hardware sales more.

Well conventional wisdom was that video gaming was recession proof. When reality is going to shit people like to consume escapist experiences. There's nothing so escapist as losing yourself in the virtual world of a video game. And even when unemployment is at 10% it still means 90% of people are employed. Basket case Europe (i.e. 25% unemployed Spain et al) is a bit of a different thing.
