I completely agree with you,I mean, the true genius behind RE is no other but Shinji Mikami, its true creative director, who Nintendo backed up when invented the cool over the shoulder perspective we now see in about every third person shooter. Most people think Gears of War was the first game to use this over the shoulder view but it wasn't,RE4 reinvented third person shooters with that particular view.Shinji Mikami was so pissed when CAPCOM couldn't keep his word in holding RE4 as an exclusive for Nintendo that he left CAPCOM and since that happened  RE was lost, as we can clearly  see with the RE5 and RE6  being the worst in the series. It wasn´t just loyalty to Nintendo what drove Mikami to abandon RE, it was that he knows that Nintendo is not about big blockbusters, he knows Nintendo is about quality and gaming experience, beacuse that's what they believe in.Sony or Microsoft they both have pushed developers into creating action packed games with lots of  cutscenes and  potent visuals because it's been proven it sells. Most gamers like better to talk about the game engine now than what they felt playing the game, as if they were part of the engineering  team rather than  people just enjoying a game for its value. That is why Sony and Microsoft are responsible for this homgenization of games a la "call of duty". This is why  Nintendo, in spite of lacking 3rd party support, is  in some ways held very high by most developers, because deep inside they all know games are about creativity; something which not  every budget can buy.
