but you would need to have an idea if you were to approach a person? if you see a hot guy in a bar and you just walk up and offer to buy them a drink you could be properly insulting someone if they are straight and you could make everyone including yourself look silly. Asking if someone happens to know the persons sexuality before approaching is just to avoid any confusion... Unless you are saying that people who would approach a man in a bar to find out if he would be gay is a vermin?
