Being called a loyalist for mentioning anything factual about the sales of the vita is a bit silly imo. I'll be honest I'm a fan of gaming in general and as much as I hands down rather the 3DS to the vita I still do not want to see the vita going down anytime soon, Competition is good, lack of it = complacency.
You have to be realistic tho the Vita was meant to be over the 10million mark by now and it's sales are at a standstill while people await the absolutely needed price drop and AAA game for it, Things are no going well and I think even the most loyal sony fans can admit that now, something needs to happen and fast.

no not really, the Vita doesn't need the 3ds and the 3ds doesn't need the Vita
the "they are need competition" is BS, ps2 destroyed it's competition and is still the greatest games console of all time with the largest most diversie library ever, the gamecube and xbox selling like significantly worse didn't stop that, just like the ps3 selling considerebly worse than the wii didn't stop it from kicking ass as far as library was concerned
same can be said for nintendo, DS didn't need the psp to get nintendogs, or brain training
the Vita will be no different, just might take alittle longer to pick up steam (sales wise)
p.s. that 10 million mark made me spit my drink out though, you nintendo fans are fucking hilarious

I'm glad you find it funny that it is selling below even the lowest of expectations, I've said it a fair few times I'm a fan of gaming... just because I have a preference to the 2 handhelds I have changes opinions, Ok!
If you think that companies without competition are a good thing then I'm glad you like the idea of paying more for the same product, because competition doesn't just make certain games come out it affects everything, from product localization, Price and Variety of models. Think about it, if there is no other handheld around then there is no reason to push the envelope in terms of great gaming experiences and there is no reason to keep it's price at an acceptable rate because there is no option but to buy it for portable gaming experience. if you can't understand this then tis pointless.

a wild ps2 just appeared a beat your logic with a baseball bat.......it was super effective
dominated the market in ways Nintendo could only dream and still got price cuts, localization, varied models, tons of games all year every year, etc.
maybe Nintendo needs competition, they would get complacent (see wii), but not Sony, if the Vita dominated the handheld market you would be in handheld gaming nirvana, of games constantly pushing the envelope, and services only getting better, that's just what Sony does, the 3ds and iphone if anything are only stifling what could be an even more amazing handheld, so I"ll just have to enjoy the great gaming experience (that not even the haters can deny) that it brings with the very few of us who brought it :/, but wont stop the experience from being any less great though, can't wait to get my hands on Soul Sacrifice and AC:L
