But I think the best thing SONY could do is when the PS4 does come out, make an even newer super duper slim PS3 with PS2/PS1 BC. That way they can finally stop selling PS2s. There is still a ton of potential for selling an offline system that will play PS3/PS2/PS1 game discs if they can do it for less than $149 and make a good profit.

I absolutely agree with you that a console capable of playing those 3 systems games perfectly would sell like hotcakes, Especially if you look at the prices the backwards compatible original models fetch on ebay. Sadly tho I just don't think it would be possible, sure the psone is no issues whatsoever, but playstation 2 emulation by the CELL just isn't going to happen this means having to include more hardware than is in the slims atm and neither model of that can be gotten for anywhere near $150 adding the ps2 cpu/gpu to their current prices makes it a hard sell realistically.
