That is a reason to root for XCom to go at least into sleeper hit, if not surprise hit, selling several million at least. This would then drive the videogames industry to consider turn-based strategy. This would be particularly true if the console versions sell well. It would make EA reconsider on a number of things, for example. EA took out the turn-based global conquest mode from Kane's Wrath (I hope i have the right C&C title) because their management thought console gamers didn't buy turn-based strategy games. Of course, Civ Revolution ended up outselling it in the end.
Another thing I hope happens is the game does end up having a link of some sort to the XCom FPS that is going to be coming out. I am a fan of worlds in fiction. Like, I would love to see Bioshock Infinite somehow link to the prior Bioshock.
