Of course Reggie has to take this line. He wouldn't be much of a businessman if he admitted defeat before Nintendo's new system even comes out.

That being said, he's right. Does anyone seriously think Wii U sales will dry up as soon as Microsoft and Sony release a next generation system? Nintendo offers things that the other two don't offer.

Even if Microsoft and Sony emulate some of the Wii U's features -- Miiverse, asymmetrical gameplay, Nintendo TVii -- they can't just borrow Mario, Zelda, Wii Sports, Pokemon, etc.

People will want to buy those games, and the system that supports them. I imagine Nintendo will unveil a slew of high profile games at E3 2013, including the next Zelda and the new Retro project. That should steal a little thunder from Sony and Microsoft, if they are indeed launching new systems in 2013.
