No Vita hasn't distinguished itself in the only way that really matters for a console fighting for its life and that is in sales. Also it's crazy that they didn't do a price cut this year considering that by the time they have one next year we could be seeing iPad Mini and dozens of other products arriving along with the next Xbox and PS consoles.
Considering Sony is targeting PS3 owners for Vita does anyone here think those owners would be more interested in the next PS console next year or Vita because many will probably be facing that choice. I suspect the Vita will lose out there.
Also one of the things about the poor sales is that it's likely having an affect behind the scenes. For example it's hard to imagine any major Western third parties giving the green light to a Vita exclusive in the last 4 or 5 months. I also suspect that if anything there are probably Vita games getting cancelled that we didn't even know about or worse for Vita they're being moved to 3DS, especially in Japan.
