No it did not. You just verified it yourself while righting off your own statement. The Wii U's situation is likely to be similar to the Wii's. I don't see it going to years straigh but its going to go through the holiday season.

DUDE! :/

Every console that sells out at launch can be sold on Ebay for $$$$$ above retail.

That is exactly what this thread is about in reference to Wii U.

That is exactly what Francis was referring to when he said "This works every gen with every console, yet I keep skipping this goldmine...".

Then you said PS3 didn't.

Then I said it did, provided my personal experience to show it did, provided an CNN news article from November 22, 2006 that said it was/did, and others in this thread have said it did. Sure the $10k article is crazy, but that was a charity event and there was even atleast one for Wii that I remember as well that sold for thousands.

PS3 was launched on Nov 11 2006. It was sold out immediately through the very beginning of January like every other console that launches in the holidays or close to holidays sells out during Nov/Dec. (well obviously not PSPGo/Vita and others that are simply unpopular consoles)

During those launch months it was selling on Ebay from $800 to $1200 easily. I know people who did it. I was pissed I didn't do it myself (as well with Wii and DSi).

Wii U is now sold out and expected to remain that way, at least in NA, through Christmas. Like the PS3 before it, people will likely make up to 2x the retail price via Ebay. Once its stock normalizes come January like all consoles except Wii did, its Ebay price will normalize as well.
