All retailers (like Target or Walmart) do it. All of these import/export companies do it. Not sure why that is to be looked down upon. It is a pretty fundamental part of our economy. You won't have coffee or banannas or video games or really just about anything not crafted by yourself and immediate (walking distance) neighbors. Don't get me wrong...I'd never pay scalper prices for a video game system, but I have paid them for things like packers playoff tickets last year. Without scalpers I'd never been able to go to that game so in a way ... I appreciate them. I have increased access to stuff provided I value it enough to pay the premium. |
You have a valid point, it is what the market will bear and fair to others. In fact what you describe is exactly what my company does. Of course I know we do not mark up our goods and service nearly like our competitors do and accounts love us for being more affordable (there is no way they'd get the prices we do at whole salers either) but that is beside the point, middle-men exist.
I know when games go on sale I am the "fool" who buys one copy for personal enjoyment while others buy 20 to make a quick and easy buck on eBay. I have debated it many a time, but I just think if they got there before me there would be no games because of their practice. It is not wrong, but a grey area for me because of my emotional attachment to video games. Did not mean to make anyone feel guilty.
