How many third party exclusives did the PS3 and Xbox360 get? Especially in the last 2 years? The Wii U already has like 10 of them in their launch window alone, excluding any digital exclusives of course. Admittedly, some of them get published by Nintendo but it's contract work with third parties, MS and Sony could do the same. People wanted Nintendo to step up and it looks like they did.

Launch window in the long term is somewhat inconsequential.

The key period for the Wii U is what happens afterwards.

You don't need a 1000 exclusives like I said. But 3-4 Bayonetta 2 sized exclusives every year from year 2-4 of the console cycle are important, and these exclusives should be "demographic broadening" .... meaning not "Mario _____".

Once Nintendo can get that they'll be OK, but until they do they're always going to have this problem with droughts. They haven't had a single console that had a really steady flow of content since the SNES, and that was 20 years ago now.

It would be nice if you could list the 3-4 Bayonetta sized third party exclusives that the PS3 and Xbox360 got every year until now because I have a feeling those are some very unrealistic expectations concerning Nintendo that not even the other two could satisfy.

You don't get it. This is not PS3vs360vsWiiU, it's WiiU vs the rest of th world. Nintendo has to get gamers back. PS3 and 360 are already installed on the market and every game not releasing on WiiU (Dishonored, Medal of Honor Warfighter, Tomb Raider, etc. there are about 40 major games like that) is a reason to pick a PS3 or a 360 rather than a WiiU. WiiU needs many (not just 2 or 3) Bayonetta 2-sized exclusives if it wants to resist the overwhelming flow of PS360 games in 2013.

Btw, isn't the US getting the ZombiU bundle? Reggie said two bundles.

This may be true for now, but both Sony and MS have to launch new consoles in the upcoming years and they do need to distinguish themselves from the competition. I just don't think it's fair to say that it's enough for Sony and MS to roll with the multiplats but Nintendo needs to invest in an unreasonable amount of exclusives to stay afloat. There are not many people surfing the web on their consoles so it's reasonable to expect most people to own a PC (1). And PC+Wii U is a more desirable combination over PS3+PC (2) or 360+PC in my opinion due to much less overlap.

I'm not saying Nintendo doesn't need exclusives but I think Nintendo shouldn't be singled out on this topic.

(1) Few of those actually have a PC that can run major games like Battlefield 3 or Crysis 3. People don't automatically get the most powerful PC in the shop. They are more like to buy a reasonably cheap PC as long as it meets their basics needs (surfing, working, etc.). People who have that kind of strong PC are PC gamers first who care little about consoles to begin with.

(2) Not necessarily. With PC+WiiU, you miss the super-majority of japanese RPGs (Lightning Returns, Tales of Xillia 1&2, etc.) and I don't remember the PC version of Rising Revengeance and Ground Zeroes being confirmed either.

My PC is 2 years old and I paid sub 500€ back then and it can run everything PS360 can but better. There is practically no computer today that couldn't run PS360 quality games. That's not a high end PC at all. I'm pretty sure I could get another 500€ PC in 2 years that could run all the PS720 games just fine.

Your second point is list wars. Of course there will be some games that people will miss out on but it could very well shift. Wii U could ensure with Monster Hunter and Dragon Quest that the majority of JRPG's shift back in Nintendo's direction. Ground Zeroes could very well go multiplat including Wii U and so could Rising. But even if not, I might have to cry myself to sleep not playing those games and settle for Bayonetta 2 and The Wonderful 101 instead. There will alwqays be games you are missing out on if you don't own all consoles but in my opinion, if you skip the Nintendo console, you are missing a lot more, especially with the Wii U if aou look how things are shaping up right now.

Ongoing bet with think-man: He wins if MH4 releases in any shape or form on PSV in 2013, I win if it doesn't.
