I think Reggie is good about talking to various partners, news outloets, distributors, and other business related things.
I think he completely fluffs it when it comes to gauging which games from Japanese developers should or shouldn't get localized for US market. There is a very very long list of Wii titles that US audiences went out of their way to ask for and still Nintendo of America (i.e. Reggie) who solely owns that decision completely fails to understand the appeal of those games.
Basically he gets only the games that he "gets" and that is a disservice to people that would have preferred to get Xenoblade Chronicles 1-2 years earlier or Last Story or Pandora's Tower or Disaster Day of Crisis. Reggie just isn't Iwata... doesnt understand the heart of a gamer. Doesn't understand how many different types of gamers exist and the wide range of games that appeal to different consumers.
Reggie is too focused on the "casual" money makers and the core Sports/FPS/Mature games. Everything else that brings smiles to various gamers gets ignored by him. I am hoping with the digital initiative in place, once that physical product/retailer-distribution risk gets taken out, that will be less of an issue going forward. That distribution cost/risk is the only business excuse he has had for not bringing some of those here especially when Europe already did the main localization effort for English / Spanish / French.
Also, if the NoA treehouse localization group is capacitated... then grow it. Must have more games... not less.
Lastly I would say it would be nice if NoA gets Nintendo stocks listed in the US stock exchange so I am not dealing with pink slip stocks from Japanese stock exchange.
