You can't ignore the fact that the Playstation BRAND went from 150+ mil on ps2, to what will end up being basically half of that (75-80 mil), while Xbox BRAND tripled its userbase. That's a big swing. A person above said it best, back in the day parents would say "play with their nintendo" then it was "playstation", now people say "Xbox" synonymously w/video games, IN AMERICA (the territory that matters most, by far). I could a rats if people in Indonesia or some other insignificant country are still stuck in the past that still associate with sony. The U.S. are the trendsetters, and people follow shortly after. Xbox has closed the gap in Europe, and will continue that trend in the next gen. As i said, the Japanese are the ones that do their own thing (won't call them xenophobes) they will never embrace Microsoft, but it doesn't matter. So unless Sony is satisfied being stuck in 3rd place (foreign territory for them) they will have to take some risks, TO ELEVATE THEIR WEAKENED BRAND. No matter your spin, the PS brand has taken a major hit, is on the decline/downswing, while the Xbox brand is the polar opposite. |
The thread asks which brand is bigger, now. Not which brand has seen the biggest increase/decrease.
