People won't be buying the Ps3 for its Blu-Ray player anymore though now that it will be available on the 360 for the same price. It would make me very very happy to see the PS3 hurt but this clearly isn't true.

And with Sin City and 300 comming out exclusive for HD-DVD, I don't see the HD-DVD format failing in the states.

300 is not HD-DVD exclusive: http://www.amazon.com/300-Blu-ray-Gerard-Butler/dp/B000Q6GX5Y

And the chances of Sin City being HD-DVD exclusive are slim. It was released on UMD for the PSP.

I know this news is old, and it has already been debunked by Microsoft, but it wouldn't hurt Sony.

Anyone who thinks Blu-ray was placed inside the PS3 solely for game use is sorely mistaken. It gives them a leg up, the ONLY leg up, in the next-gen DVD war. Imagine Blu-ray without the PS3. Dead in the water. Sony would LOVE Microsoft to release a Blu-ray add-on. That would be pretty much handing the Next-Gen DVD War to Sony on a silver platter.
