Xbox brand might be more valuable at the moment, but the playstation brand is more well known.

Nearly 400million playstation consoles/handhelds have been sold, vs nearly 100million xbox consoles.

Only gamers would have the slightest idea that their pcs and phones have an xbox application, so just because it can be on all pcs doesn't mean all people with pcs know about it.

That is in the course of a much longer period of time, I'm talking about currently.  And if Windows 8 comes pre-loaded with XBOX Live like Windows Phones you better believe more people will get to know it because Windows is by far bigger than anything else in the industry.

Live on PC makes zero sense to me.  I had to actually make a Live account just to be able to play GTA 4 on Steam single player.  It blew my mind why I had to do such a trivial thing for a game not even published by Microsoft.  If anything I see more of a revolt that will happen if they keep this up.  To me Live on PC means absolutely nothing.

It's not windows live.  It'll be XBOX LIVE.  Two different applications,  but I get your point as I use Steam on PC.  However, if it's pre-loaded with Windows 8 which I'm almost positive it is it'll just bring more recognition to Avatars and XBL. Remember, avatars are with the silver account on XBL so this won't be confined. This will be capturing the casual audience more than anything in my opinion rather than the hardcore as I'm assuming they're not going to be releasing games like Halo 4 on PC's XBL.  This shouldn't be interfering with Steam in anyway
