Today my colleague asked me for advice. His daughter doesn't want to play his Playstation,  and he knows I'm a Nintendo fan. So he asked me my advice, should I buy the WiiU or get a second hand Wii?

His daughter loves games for girls, casual motion games, and apparently there is everything for her liking on the Wii. He will also prefer to save money as he doesn't have much money to spare atm. So at first I told him the WiiU was future ready and has some casual games, and is a much better multimedia device than the Wii, and also has a great online community system. Ultimately it boiled down to the games, and the Wii had everything he needed.

Do you believe the WiiU will suffer for lack of casual games atm, or will people want to upgrade regardless?

I think this speaks to a scenario Nintendo actually wants.

In its first-quarter report this year, Nintendo predicted it would ship 10.5 million Wii U and Wii consoles by March 2013. I think they expect to sell a healthy amount of Wii U systems, but also continue to sell the Wii to people just like your coworker who see no immediate need to upgrade.
