That's why I say that FFXII was the last game that really deserved the 40/40. It was the last game judged by Famitsu's harsh scoring policy.

You really have nothing to back up what you're saying. You like FF12 so it's last one that deserved it?

Famitsu never changed their scoring policy, and they've been averaging 1/year for a while now.

1 - They have most likely changed, since scores now are much higher than before ( that nullifies the "never")

2 - Make that 3 per year. Only recent year that scored one perfect is 2012 (Kid Icarus) and the year is not over - pretty sure there will be more.

When exactly did they change? Did the standards get more lax in 08 and 09 only to get harsher in 10? After that, they decided to be lax again? This year, they must have gotten tougher to earn, right?

How often do they vary from Western media? They don't. Every game they've given a perfect score to, other publications in the West have as well. That's why I find it funny that people discredit them, but it's mostly because it's the only Japanese publication that we hear about.
