whoa just seen here, I only meant in the case of games which had been taken off the services like the way Irem had any of their R-Type games removed from psn/xbla/wii shop channel if you own those games you can play them but you can't get them again from the stores I think if you got rid of them, well not from the wii shop channel, as for other stuff yeah anything you buy from xbox live you buy the lisence for it on your profile and on your system, so you can use it not only on your xbox but if you bring your profile to a friends xbox you can download any games you own there and play them on that system too, but it doesn't add the license to the 2nd xbox so you must remain connected to xbox live on your account or else the games revert to trials.

Ok, I see what you mean now. Yes that is a concern, but it is not really different from physical games going out of production, though I suppose 2nd hand would allow you longer lasting access. Still digital is theoritically more long term than physical copies unles you can take those physical copies and duplicate them but then isn't that digital anyway? I suppose the concern would be digital access limited to the upkeep of another entitiy.
