Hey I'm posting again but do you want to know why 3D is here to stay? 4 out of 5 of the highest grossing films of all time are in 3D. Only 13 movies in history have made over a billion dollars. 4 of them only managed that feat because of being in 3D. Just wanted to share some stats.

To me it depends on who's making money off the 3D price. By that, I mean that if it's the theaters that pocket most of the 2-3 extra bucks for the 3D version and that the film makers make about the same amount of money on the ticket sold regardless of what version of the movie is chosen (I honestly don't know how the revenues are split up) then they might end up not bothering if 3D doesn't bring them additional viewers (people who go see the movie BECAUSE it's in 3D).

For example, the 3D in Alice in Wonderland brought absolutely nothing to the movie. I even forgot the movie was in 3D for a while. I believe the attendance for this movie would have been approximatively the same if there hadn't been any 3D version.
