I agree. It's a nice addition and can enhance the gameplay (as we've seen in Super Mario 3D Land) but it's not a selling point. The 3DS makes 3D accessible. The PS3 3D requires a system update, a 3D-enabled TV, and glasses - too many barriers; so it makes sense that PS3 owners didn't warm up to it so much.
Nintendo doesn't have to stress 3D anymore with the 3DS because the system actually has some great software now. So 3D takes a backseat to all the great content - which is how it should be.
