EA has (pretty much) bet against every Nintendo platform since the Gamecube; and after the embarassment the management team took with the Nintendo DS and Wii I believe they have moved towards much more passive-agressive tactics with the 3DS and Wii U.
Honestly, I think their strategy has been hurting EA far more than it has impacted Nintendo. EA's stock, which was once worth $50+, is now selling for close to $12; and their P/E ratio is above 72 which means there stock is (really) worth about $2.50
