If ever publishers are a threat against the interest of hardcore gamers. People are allowed to like and buy whatever they want, the fault is totally on publishers who are not listening anymore to their longtime customers and only think about marketshares. To make a comparison, If I were the manager of a traditional cuisine resturant, what should I do after I discover the Big Mac is the most popular meal in my country? Shold I close my resturant and start selling Big Macs? Or should I try to enstablish my fine product to a priviliged group of costumers? If everyone chooses the former than, in no time traditional cuisine would disappear and you won't find anything but McDonalds and Burger Kings in every street corner. |
You are right. I actually agree with what you wrote. But just like the food gourmet will preach to his friends how cheap and bad it is to go eat at McDonalds and Burger King, we who call ourselves hardcore or sophisticated gamers must preach how bad it is to consume casual and dumbed down games.
You can't blame the publisher just like you can't blame the restaurant manager (because they both love money). You just need to increase awareness among consumers.
