Uhm...why? Heavy Rain is a good game, no matter the platform. Are you saying 360 and PC gamers don't buy good games? |
Heavy Rain is a good game, but the main impression of the game is that it is "a movie" with QTEs; or at least that was what most people said back then. So few people would have take the game into consideration if it was multiplat, but considering it is an exclusive Sony fans gave it a chance, and that is why it sold well. Sony fans are willing to give "weird" exclusives titles a chance; because they are not "more of the same", and because they are exclusive. If it was multiplat, it would have lost some traction with PS users, and other console owner would not have give the game a chance due to it´s "uniqueness".
It fits perfectly with the Dark Souls scenario. Many PS fans bought Demon Souls, because it was quite unique, and an exclusive. They were willing to buy it even though it was quite "weird" by gaming standards. But the spiritual sequel was not an exclusive, and was not that unique (because of Demon Souls) so, PS3 users decided to ignore it, or buy it used;.... IDK; while 360 gamers did not care much.
Look at Heavenly Sword, it was an action / adventure game with a different approach, and an exclusive; it sold quite good. But enslaved, a game that is also action / adventure oriented with "new/weird" elements; it was not an exclusive, so PS user did not care, and 360 did not care either.
In general I think that gamers appreciate the most the exclusives released for their systems, when they are really good that is.
