Why would you change the gear or look at the map in the middle of combat? This feature is made of to avoid constant pausing during the game, I played this game for the PC and believe me that it was annoying to pause the game every time you wanted to change your gear (specially since their is WAY to many weapons and armors), it's not meant to be used in the middle of combat (if you want to do that I guess you can change it while pausing the game normally). This is a welcome feature that I really like and will probably pick it up because I really like Darksiders 2 and haven't played the DLC yet.
